A variety of theological debates, more or less influenced by other European Churches, took place in a new theological climate. These debates on liberalism, Revival or orthodoxy gave rise to conflicts but the latter gradually calmed down towards the end of the century with the rise of the fideo-symbolism and social Christianity movements.
